Giraffe
A beautiful earth tone quilt with a medallion appliqué of a giraffe in the sparse countryside of Africa. In the background is a herd of zebras.
Three Maasai warriors dressed in traditional red garb are appliquéd on the inner border. The remainder of this border is primarily a variety of different giraffe printed fabrics one of which is probably from the fifties.
The final border fabric is a special fabric from Kenya with giraffes silhouetted against a marbled background. The backing fabric is also from Kenya.
There is much hand quilting throughout with the shadows of many plants in the brown earth just waiting for the rains
